Creating Your Comments Description for Search engines - tips:

An about 100 word description is best - more words are too much for our pages and less words are less for the search engines to find.

Internet search engines (Yahoo, MSN, and others) find your information by what the searcher types in. Anticipate what words your customers might use to find your business or service.

Use words unique to your business

Use word variations - "An experienced landscaper, we do landscaping" in your description - search engines can find both variations.  Using different multiple phrases to say the same thing helps.

Include city and or areas served. - example - "Serving Eau Claire and Chippewa Counties" - if you are do landscaping in Eau Claire the search term of "landscaping in Eau Claire" will be more likely to find you.

It takes time for the search engines to find your classified. Be patient.  If your search does not find the ad, try again in a a week or two.

If you want a certain test if MSN or Yahoo or others have found your listing, type a long string of characters that exactly matches your classified ad words within quotes, such as:
 "Three stores, a location is 2 hours or less from most places in Wisconsin, Chicago, Northern Illinois, Upper Michigan"
 - on MSN, the search will find the Woodshed ad listed on this site.

There is no guarantee that search engines will find your listing or list it - or some engines may find it and others may not; for example, MSN may list it but Google may not.  Try several search engines to try to find your listing.

The search engines are more likely to find YOUR listing if this website:

1) has a lot of content.  Contact a friend and ask them to register here too.  The more listings there are the more likely the classifieds pages will be found with your listing on it.

2) gets a lot of visitors.  Mention this website when you talk to potential customers.  It says to them that you are a serious business.

The more links to a site, the higher the search engine listing rank.  Ask your friends to link to this site from their web site. 

Finally, maximize your listings - see our links page for some more sites we are developing. Ask your business contacts to register on this or those other sites.  Ask them to include a referred by (you) remark in their comment section - if they do we may post your classified on that site too.
